JAMAICAN SWEET POTATO RECIPE

This Jamaican Sweet Potato Recipe is a slice of heaven! This pudding is a sweet, warm dessert. It’s moist, rich and full of warm spices like nutmeg and cinnamon. If you are looking for a new dessert to try, look no further!

INGREDIENTS – Flour – Grated nutmeg – Cinnamon  – Ground ginger – Salt – Coconut milk – Vanilla – Brown sugar – Purple Skinned Sweet Potatoes – Margarine – Coconut milk

Sweet potatoes grown in Jamaica look a little different than the ones in most American grocery stores. American sweet potatoes may have orange flesh or a yellow/brown skin with white flesh. Caribbean sweet potatoes have red or purple skin with white flesh.

Use a box grater or food processor to shred your sweet potatoes. 

Get your dry ingredients together. 

Get your dry ingredients together with the combined wet ingredients and the shredded potatoes. 

Oil a springform pan to use in baking the pudding pie. 

Whisk together the custard so that you can add it to the baked cake once the pudding is set so it can finish baking.
