BAMYA Vegetarian Stew

Bamya is a popular stew in the Middle East made with okra and tomato sauce. While it is sometimes served with meat, this version is a delicious vegetarian meal served over rice.

Bamya (or Bamia) is a popular dish in many Middle Eastern households and once you try it, you’ll know why. It’s easy to put together, delicious and filling. Who doesn’t love a warm bowl of delicious stew?

- Okra - Garlic - Orange peel - Tomato sauce - Lemon peel - Salt - Sugar - Water - 2 cups of prepared rice

Get the party started with some oil, garlic, orange peel and frozen okra that's thawed under a stream of warm water.

Add some liquids! Start with water, bring it to a boil, than add the tomato sauce. Toss in your lemon juice and sugar now.

Check the softness of the okra to know if its done. Taste the sauce to see if it needs more seasoning then serve a scoop over white rice.

Bamya would be delicious over Vermicelli rice too!
